Organize roles in teams

Build the team hierarchy and file each role under it.

All the steps presented below can be autonomously handled through your AI agent (Claude Desktop) and executed for you. See Author with AI.

Shape the team tree your roles are filed under, up to ten levels deep. See Role for what a team is.

Anyone can see the tree and file a role under an existing leaf team. Adding, renaming or deleting a unit needs the workspace's admin permission for it.

Open Organization

On Roles, open More actions and choose Organization. A panel slides in with the current tree.

Add a unit

Click Add Unit, or the + on an existing unit to add a child under it. Pick a color and a name, then confirm.

A unit that already holds roles cannot take child units: move its roles out first. A unit is a leaf, and can hold roles, only while it has no children.

Edit or delete a unit

Use the pencil icon to rename or recolor a unit. Use the trash icon to delete one: deleting is blocked while the unit still holds roles or child units, so move or remove those first.

File a role under a team

This happens on the role, not in this panel. On Roles, a team starts folded: click its chevron to show its roles (a search that matches a role opens its team for you), then Add a Role to that team to create a role in it, or change an existing role's Team on its page.

Check it worked

The new or renamed unit appears in the tree, and in the Team choices on a role's page.
